We are back to school today! September 3rd

Well, we are FINALLY back to school! It is funny to us to be going back to school in September! Because we have lived in so many different places, over the past 8 or so years, Jack has been going back to school in August. So it really felt like it was never going to get here!

Jack is going into the 8th grade this year and is VERY excited (believe it or not). At the end of last year, he realized that he was going to be starting a whole new year with school and that this year was really going to make the difference in his academics. He realized that his slate from the prior years wouldn't matter when he decided to go to college and that year marked the beginning of when they really look at your work. So, he is focused more now than ever. I guess only time will tell but I have a lot of faith in him and KNOW that he will do good this year.

And although he is 14 1/2, Mom still can embarrass him by making him pose for the first day shots! Heeee heee

On another note with Jack, we are praying hard about something for him and his health. As many of you know, Jack has a condition called "pectus excava" or something like that. It is a condition where the stirnum has shunken into his chest cavity and can cause damage or growth issues with his internal organs. We went to the doctor yesterday and found that the doctor believes it would be a good idea for us to have the surgery to correct this problem now while he is younger than 18. They generally will do this surgery on children younger than 10 but will do it on older children as well. So, please pray for us and in making this decision. The doctor told us that he would probably wait until the summer (this coming) so that Jack wouldn't miss school and have the appropriate time to heal. He wouldn't be able to do any kind of athletic stuff (including skateboarding) for at least a year after the surgery so this is something that we really have to pray about! Please pray for us all and Jack's health, along with the guidance to make a good decision about this surgery.

This year, I have decided to start homeschooling Gabi and Leah. And although, Gabi is only in Pre-Kindergarten, we are SO ready! Gabi was SO excited this morning to be "going to school" as she kept saying. We actually got up and got dressed as if we were going somewhere too. She was such a good girl too. She worked hard and learned for hours before taking a break. She didn't even ask to watch TV which amazed me! Doesn't she look so big now?

Gabi is learning to write now. She is working on her numbers zero and one. And she did a good job!
