Making Strides for Breast Cancer - October 11th

The Portillo PamChef Team: In Memory of Sharon Barrett

In the mid-part of summer, we lost my cousin, Sharon Barrett, to complications to breast cancer. She suffered for 2 1/2 years with the cancer which eventually took her life. She left behind her mom, two sisters, a husband and a 14 year old daughter who are all taking is very hard, as to be expected. I promised her family that I would walk and always involved myself in any type of breast cancer awareness events and walk in memory and honor of her!

I got to keep my promise today by walking in the 2nd Annual Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk at Thompson Park in Watertown, New York. I was SO happy to say that I was able to collect over $600 in donations, making my donation 2nd for the entire walk! YIPPY! The Cancer Society was able to raise a total of $25,000 today to help find a cure for breast cancer which really made me smile! Everyone in the family wore pink and participated in their own way! You go The Portillo PamChef Team: In Memory of Sharon Barrett.

The ladies pictured here are all of the survivors who attended this event! Wow, it was great to see some survivors of this horrible disease!

I was REALLY proud of Jackson too! He actually rode his skateboard for the entire 2 mile at the walk! He really wants to get something going with skateboarding for Breast Cancer Awareness! You go Jack!
